Meet Audrey
ACE Certified Personal Trainer
Audrey first started her exercise career in 2015 as an assistant coach for the Iguana’s Triathlon Club and Swim Club. Shortly after, she worked with Chicago Youth United Performance as an assistant track and cross country coach. She continues to coach with the Iguanas in the summers, because there is nothing better than coaching at the lakefront with awesome kids! After many years of coaching kids and teens, Audrey earned her ACE personal training certification so she could start working with adults. Her first job as a personal trainer was at Gottlieb Center for Fitness. Working at this Loyola Hospital affiliated gym gave her experience working with a variety of clientele with different health needs and goals. During her time there she earned her U.S. Masters Swim coach certification, which she used to coach adults in swimming.

Audrey’s experience as a coach and personal trainer is one part of her exercise journey. Her own experiences with exercise have helped her learn more about exercise and the human body. Throughout her life, Audrey has competed in hundreds of athletic events. As a swimmer, diver, runner, wrestler, dancer, triathlete and rock climber, Audrey experienced many successes, but along with that were many learning experiences and some difficult injuries. The most challenging injury Audrey experienced was a concussion and the post concussion syndrome that followed. It was through this recovery that Audrey realized how much the mind and body are connected. This experience gave her insight into herself and taught her resilience and self love. It taught her to meet herself where she was at each day, and to be proud of herself for always trying her best. Audrey brings what she has learned on her own exercise journey to help others.
Exercise is great, but it is just one part of who she is. Audrey loves spending time with her family, and friends. She also enjoys nannying and working as a receptionist at an acupuncture clinic. In her free time she likes to draw, read and write letters. Audrey's favorite life experiences include training sled dogs in Montana, and working as an aupair in Orgiva Spain. She also runs a mental health support group and enjoys going for walks with her dog.
Vision for Phoenix Fitness
Many aspects of Phoenix Fitness were inspired by other small businesses that create an atmosphere of community and kindness in Chicago.
We hope that we continue to reach people in the community and create that same inclusive atmosphere. One way we do that is by offering free classes at the Dunning Chicago Public Library.
We want to help as many people as we can get stronger and more confident with exercise.
